Lamar Hunt, Jr. is the President and Owner of the Missouri Mavericks professional hockey team. He is also founder of Loretto Properties, LLC, a real estate investment company specializing in the operation and management of residential properties, as well as Loretto Foundation, LLC, a private charitable organization. All companies are based in the greater Kansas City area. He is a member of the founding family of the Kansas City Chiefs, a National Football League member team. The family also operates FC Dallas, a member franchise of Major League Soccer. Lamar serves on the board of directors of Hunt Midwest Enterprises, a real estate development company based in Kansas City, Missouri. He is a member of the board of the Hunt Family Foundation and also serves on the Advisory Board of the Catholic Radio Network, a religious broadcasting group operating radio stations in the greater Kansas City, Wichita, and Denver markets. He has served on the Case Review Task Force appointed by Archbishop Joseph Naumann, which formulated recommendations for the future growth of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas.

Lamar graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music Degree and later completed a Master of the Arts degree in counseling at Dallas Baptist University. He was also a flutist in the Kansas City Symphony for nine seasons. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in both Kansas and Missouri, where he worked with neglected and abused teenagers, homeless men with addiction problems, and families in crisis. Two of his passions in life are classical music and promoting healthy family relationships in the community. He is frequently in demand as a public speaker regarding effective interpersonal relationships. Lamar is married to his lovely wife, Rita, and between them, they are the proud parents of nine children and six grandchildren.

Lamar Hunt, Jr. is the oldest son of Lamar Hunt, a well-known businessman and sports entrepreneur. The elder Hunt was a successful businessman and promoter of multiple sports including football, basketball, and soccer in the United States. He was the founder of the American Football League and a founder of World Championship TennisMajor League Soccer, and the predecessor to MLS, the North American Soccer League. Mr. Hunt founded the Kansas City Chiefs, a member team of the National Football League, as well as the Columbus Crew and Kansas City Wizards (now known as Sporting KC) of MLS. Mr. Hunt was also a founding investor in the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association. For his significant contributions to professional sports, Mr. Hunt was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1972, the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1982, and the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1993. The oldest ongoing national soccer tournament in the United States, the U. S. Open cup, now bears his name in honor of his involvement with the growth of soccer in the United States. The American Football Conference Championship Trophy is also named in his honor. Mr. Hunt, who was happily married to Norma Hunt for 42 years, passed away in 2006.
