FORWARD KENTON MILLER CALLED UP TO CHICAGO WOLVES
Mavericks' AHL affiliate calls up rookie
INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – The Missouri Mavericks announced Sunday forward Kenton Miller has been recalled by the Mavericks' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.
Miller, 21 (2/10/91) is among the rookie leaders in the Central Hockey League (CHL) in scoring and goals. The Redvers, Saskatchewan native currently ranks fifth among all rookies in the CHL with 23 points and his 12 goals is tied for third among first-year players. Miller is third on the Mavericks in points and tied for second on the team in goals.
"Kenton is very deserving of this call-up," said Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman. "He is a top rookie in this league and he is maturing very quickly. Kenton has learned a lot from the great veteran players on this team and Simon Watson has spent a lot of one-on-one time with him working on specific skill areas to better his game. We wish Kenton great success in Chicago."
Prior to turning professional, Miller spent the previous four seasons playing junior hockey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for Spokane, Calgary and Moose Jaw. In 242 games played, Miller finished with 60 goals and 57 assists for 117 points.
The Mavericks have a pair of games this weekend at Independence Events Center. On Friday, Jan. 11, the Mavericks host the Tulsa Oilers and on Saturday, Jan. 12, the Quad City Mallards are at Independence Events Center.
