MAVERICKS SIGN FORWARD PODGE TURNBULL
Colt King and Jeff Pierce both placed on injured reserve
INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – Missouri Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman announced Friday the Central Hockey League (CHL) club has signed forward Podge Turnbull. The Mavericks also placed forwards Colt King and Jeff Pierce on the injured reserve.
Turnbull, 24 (7/12/88), is a fifth round pick (137th overall) of the Los Angeles Kings from the 2007 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft. The Hayward, Wisconsin native is in his second season professionally after playing four seasons with the University of Wisconsin Badgers. A 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward, Turnbull amassed 39 points on 23 goals and 16 assists in 111 games over his four seasons with the Badgers.
After playing collegiately, Turnbull started his professional career last season in the ECHL with Utah and South Carolina. In 28 games as a rookie, he finished with eight points (2-6=8) and 14 penalty minutes. Prior to coming to the Mavericks this season, Turnbull played in five games with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye this season and had one goal.
Mavericks forward Colt King has been placed on the 14-day injured reserve and forward Jeff Pierce has been placed on the 7-day injured reserve.
