The votes are in!  The Mavs have compiled a list of the Top 10 Missouri Mavericks Players of All-Time with the help of THE BEST FANS in the Central Hockey League who voted in the offiical poll between July 1st and July 11th!  The players named to the Top 10 list will be commemorated on collectable cards to be given away at select Missouri Mavericks home games during the 2014-15 season.

The results of the Missouri Mavericks Top 10 Vote are brought to you by The Examiner, which will publish the results of the official poll one player at a time, until all Top 10 Mavs Players are revealed, beginning on Tuesday, July 15th.

Thinel

 SEBASTIEN THINEL

"It's appropriate that veteran forward Sebastien Thinel would kick off the Missouri Mavericks' top 10 all-time team celebration, as no player has made an impact like the former Central Hockey League scoring champion and MVP.

When you look at Sebby's accomplishments, then realize what an important part of the community he and his family have become over the last three years, it shows what a special individual he is," team President Brent Thiessen said of the team captain who ranks second all-time in CHL history in assists and third in scoring..."

Watson

SIMON WATSON

"When Simon Watson joined a first-year Central Hockey League team called the Missouri Mavericks back in the fall of 2009, he had no idea what type of an impact the move would have on his life.

'I still call this area home,' said Watson, the 2010-11 CHL Man of the Year and the second player to be announced on the Mavericks' all-time top 10 team behind Sebastien Thinel. 'When I came to Independence, I had no idea what to expect. I never thought this team and this community would make such an impact on my life, but it has. And I am so happy about the way things turned out..."

Dickson

 JOHN-SCOTT DICKSON

"For the past three seasons, John-Scott Dickson has rolled up his sleeves, packed his lunch pail and gone to work for the Missouri Mavericks.

Sure, he's scored 68 goals and added 74 assists through his career, but it's the little things this blue-collar player does that makes him so special to a team that has made the playoffs each year of its existence..."

Jardine

RYAN JARDINE

"Before the Missouri Mavericks were one of the elite teams in the Central Hockey League, they featured a revolving-door approach to players who would come and go without having the time to grab a cup of coffee.

That all changed when the Mavericks signed former NHL draft pick and rock-solid clubhouse leader Ryan Jardine, who is the newest member of the all-time top 10 team, as voted on by Missouri Mavericks fans."

King

COLT KING

"If you’re a member of the Missouri Mavericks Orange Army and someone mentions “the shot heard ’round the world,” you know that person is not making a reference to the April 19, 1775, volley that set the stage for the battle for independence and the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

No, this shot took place on April 5, 2013, when Missouri Mavericks enforcer Colt King delivered the new “shot heard ’round the CHL world,” as he sent Rapid City’s Garrett Gruenke flying into the cheap seats at the Independence Events Center with a forearm to the chest that set the stage for a new battle for Independence."

Simoes

DAVID SIMOES

"David Simoes was voted by his Central Hockey League peers as the league's toughest player in both years he starred for the Missouri Mavericks.

The gritty defenseman was a finalist for the CHL Man of the Year, and he made an impact in the locker room and on the ice that will never be forgotten by his teammates and the Orange Army."

Pszenyczny

DAVE PSZENYCZNY

"His name might be the most difficult to spell or pronounce in the Central Hockey League, but it's easy to talk about the impact defenseman Dave Pszenyczny has made on the Missouri Mavericks.

'Oh Chezy,' team president Brent Thiessen said, when asked about the newest member of the Top 10 All-Time Mavericks team. 'No one can spell his name. No one chirps like him on the ice and no one can outwork him. He's one of those guys who helps teams win championships, and that is why it was so important to sign him for this season.'"

Effinger

CHARLIE EFFINGER

"'Charlie! Charlie!'

That was a familiar chant when all-time fan favorite Charlie Effinger manned the net for the Missouri Mavericks in the team's first and third seasons."

Owen

 SHANE OWEN

"Shane Owen played just one season with Missouri, but it was special enough to earn him the ninth spot on the Mavericks' all-time top 10 team.

His 35 wins were the most for a single season, and he finished with a miniscule 2.58 goals against average. And the former Utah Grizzlies backup was an iron man, appearing in 51 games (35-15-1) and leading Missouri to the top spot in the Central Hockey League during the regular season."

Courtney

ANDREW COURTNEY

"When Belleville, Ontario native Andrew Courtney arrived in Independence, fresh off the campus of the University of Lethbridge, he knew two things about the metro area.

'I knew the Royals and Chiefs played in Kansas City, and that was pretty much it,' said Courtney, a scoring sensation who last year established a new franchise single-season mark with 34 goals."

Independence, Missouri – July 11, 2014 -- The Missouri Mavericks announced Saturday afternoon that they have re-signed defenseman Dave Pszenyczny, and left wing Evan Vossen to standard player contracts, in addition to signing rookie forward Ben Power to the 2014-15 roster.  The announcement was made in front of a large crowd of Missouri Mavericks fans attending the first annual Summer Games & Tailgate Party at Independence Events Center.

Veteran Mavericks’ defenseman Dave Pszenyczny is joining the Missouri roster for the fourth consecutive season, having racked up 30 goals, 55 assists, and 385 penalty minutes through 177 games with the Mavs.

“Pszenyczny is a proven player that the opposition’s top skaters hate to play against,” said Richard Matvichuk, Missouri Mavericks Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, “it’s a real bonus to have him back in the locker room and I look forward to using him as a shut-down defenseman and agitator on the ice.”

Evan Vossen, a 6’0” left wing from Swift Current, Saskatchewan has spent the past two seasons with the Mavericks, contributing 25 goals, 25 assists, and 115 penalty minutes.

“Vossen is a big name in this community, and a top-line centerman with skill that will be able to take him to the next level,” said Matvichuk. “He is going to be a key player on the penalty kill for us and the shutdown of our top opponents.”

Right wing Ben Power hails from Montreal, Quebec having spent four years at Lake Superior University before playing for the Knoxville Ice Bears (SPHL), the Allen Americans, and the Rapid City Rush (CHL) last season.  Power boasts 56 career professional games with 20 goals, 24 assists, and 22 penalty minutes.

"Power is talented young forward who I worked with briefly while in Allen," said Matvichuk, "he scored 6 goals in only 11 games, and is capable of being a dangerous addition to the Mavericks lineup this season."
