Mavericks’ Season Ends in Game 6: Fall 4-3 in 2OT

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – The Missouri Mavericks historic season came to a close on Tuesday after 99 grueling minutes of playoff hockey ending in a  4-3 second overtime loss to the Arizona Sundogs.

The Mavericks jumped onto the scoreboard early with a first period goal by Mike Ramsay, assisted by Obi Aduba and Matt Stephenson.  The Sundogs tied it up 1-1 in the last minute of the period, holding a 9-7 shots on goal advantage over the Mavs.

Mavericks Defeated by Sundogs in OT of Game 5

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – It took over 90 minutes of play, but the Missouri Mavericks were handed a 4-3 overtime loss on Saturday night against the Arizona Sundogs in Game 5 of the opening round of the 2014 CHL Playoffs.  The Sundogs lead the best-of-seven series 3-2 over the Mavericks.

Missouri brought amateur Peter Massar onto the roster Saturday night, filling space in the roster from a suspended Sebastien Thinel and an absent John-Scott Dickson, who has not made a playoff appearance since Game 1 for the Mavs.

Mavericks Tie Series with 3-1 Victory over Sundogs

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – The Missouri Mavericks were denied the shutout victory by a reviewed call on an Arizona Sundogs goal late in the third period, but stellar performances all around still allowed the Mavericks to skate away with a 3-1 victory over the Sundogs in Game 4, tying the series at 2-2 and forcing Game 6 at the Independence Events Center, the “Toughest Building to Win In” according to the 2014 CHL ‘Best of the Best’ poll results.

Mavericks’ goaltender Shane Owen made 40 saves in 60 minutes of play, halting the Sundogs’ game plan of showering the Missouri net with endless shots on goal to get on the board.

Mavericks Can’t Connect in Game 3

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – The Missouri Mavericks could not pull together enough of an offensive effort to fight back against the onslaught of shots on goal delivered by the Arizona Sundogs on Wednesday night in Game 3 of Round 1 in the 2014 Central Hockey League Playoffs.

The Sundogs held a dramatic lead in shots on goal throughout a majority of the contest, finishing the game ahead 41-32, scoring on three of those attempts.  The Mavericks first period power-play goal was not enough to match 3 unanswered Sundogs goals in the second period, and the Mavs dropped the game 3-1, giving the Sundogs a 2-1 lead in the opening round series.
