MAVERICKS WIN SEVENTH STRAIGHT AT HOME, 7-4 OVER BLAZE

Six different players notch multiple points

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri – The Missouri Mavericks won their seventh consecutive home contest over the Bloomington Blaze Saturday night at Independence Events Center, by the score of 7-4. The game was played in front of the Mavs’ seventh sellout crowd of the season. John-Scott Dickson and Brandon Coccimiglio had two goals each for the Mavs and six different Mavericks recorded multiple points on the night. The Mavs set their season high for goals in a period, scoring four goals in the first period. Dale Mahovsky had four assists on the night and Charlie Effinger stopped 39 shots for his 16th victory of the season.

The Mavericks set their season high for goals in a period in the first period, putting up four goals on Bloomington goaltender Zane Kalemba on 15 shots. Brandon Coccimgilio scored two goals for the Mavs in the period and John-Scott Dickson and Sebastien Thinel added the other two goals for the Mavs in the period. Defenseman Brad Good also posted two of his assists in the period. The Blaze added two goals of their own in the period, with one from Luke Popko and another from Kyle Laughlin. The Blaze outshot the Mavs in the period, by a count of 16-15.

The Mavs took control in the second period, putting up two more goals. Dickson added his second goal of the game just over a minute into the second period. Thinel and Dale Mahovsky assisted on Dickson’s second tally. After five goals, the Mavs chased Kalemba from the game and he was replaced by Brian Mahoney-Wilson. Popko kept the Blaze close with his second goal of the night at the 16:06 mark of the period. The Mavs were quick to counter, with a goal 23 seconds later from newly acquired forward Andrew Favot. The Blaze outshot the Mavs 14-6 in the period.

Jason Dale made things interesting early on in the final period, scoring for the Blaze, bringing the score within two goals for Bloomington. Patrick Schafer added a goal with just over a minute remaining in regulation to sew up the Mavs’ 7-4 victory. Dale Mahovsky collected his fourth assist of the night on Schafer’s goal, breaking the Mavs franchise record for assists in a game.

Charlie Effinger stopped 39 of 43 shots by the Blaze. In total, six different Mavs players registered multiple point performances on the night.

The Mavericks have six games remaining on their seven-game home stand, which continues on Tuesday when the Mavericks face the Evansville IceMen.
